A Rest Day in Richmond!

...we are going to take it easy today, in preparation for the LONG (23 mile!) walk to Ingleby-Cross tomorrow...

sunny 22 °C

We arrived in Richmond mid-afternoon yesterday after one of the easiest walks of our vacation yet. We chose the more picturesque path along the river and through the forests, rather than the direct 'follow the asphalt' path. It was a lovely walk and we arrived in Richmond with plenty of energy.

We found our B&B and was immediately greeted by a small statured, older gentleman with an earing. His friendly mannerism was only eclipsed by his flamboyance. He showed us around, carried our bags to our room and got us settled. I asked him if there was a shop in town that I might be able to purchase a long sleeved shirt, he replied 'no' but mentioned he might have something I could borrow. He actually went home and brought me three of the largest shirts he owned; each fitting my torso like a sausage casing. As kind as the gesture was, I donned my Green Lantern t-shirt and Tiesha and I made our way to the downtown core to stroll amongst the shops. We found another HSBC ATM where I withdrew a bit more BritCash, and continued our stroll. We found a little consignment store where I found a very tight fitting yellow acrylic sweater for ONLY £3.99, and immediately fell in love with it. Or maybe it fell in love with me. Regardless, it was purchased and pulled over my head and we departed towards an Indian restaurant for supper (the FINEST Indian restaurant in all of Richmond!)

We awoke this morning without the stress of having to rush to eat, pack, 'suit up' and leave, so we slept in a bit, ate a leisurely breakfast, showered and are currently both surfin' the interwebs before leaving to explore Richmond a bit. We gave the B&B folks another load of laundry to do (including the clothes we work last night at the Indian restaurant!) and are in pretty good shape for a day of local discovery. There is a cinema down the road, and we may catch a matinee.

Cheers!

Hey, I ate at that Indian restaurant too! I loved English food, but by Richmond I was craving something with a little more spice.

By the way, are you guys still eating the "full Engish" in the mornings, or just toast and coffee?

Enjoy your rest day, tomorrow is a long one! (but totally flat).

I'm a real 'just toast and coffee' 'cause I just can't eat a lot in the mornings. I had a hot dog from a street vendor for lunch today and I don't think it could have been *more* lacking in flavour. Oh well....
